I recently did a bunch of work on the front end of my 2010 ABS tbird. I put new tires, fork oil, and brake pads on the bike. I put it all back together and took it for a ride. Runs fine stops well but when applying the brakes at speed 20 mph or so it buzzes as you get to about 5 mph it stops. They are Kevlar pads, I have no abs light and as I said all seems to work fine. I'm about to take it all apart again but figured I'd ask first.

Did you replace the rotors as well? The pads and the rotors wear together so when you replace the pads but not the rotors sometimes there is a bit of a vibration from the pads moving over the wear patterns in the rotors. I've had this happen on my car. Usually it settles down over a fairly short period of time as the pads start to wear down a bit and mold to the deviations in the rotors. Just a thought.

I just replaced the pads, I know what you mean, about running them in. What is wierd is there is no pulsation. It only buzzes at speed and it's only noise, it does not have any feel or vibration. I was wondering if it was the tone ring or pick-up.

Are you guys cleaning, dressing and lubing the contact points on both ends of each pad so they can move back and forth easily in the caliper??I think the buzzing sound you're hearing might be one or both of the pads contacting the rotor at a slight angle as the brake is applied.I know what you're hearing cause I too had that same buzzing sound some time ago,but cured it by doin what I just suggested. So try it! Whadaya got to lose???

I will give it a try, I did it on the back because it is like a car and has a friction fit, but with the loose fit on the front pads I did not. I cleaned them . I will give it a shot. By the way I follow the post but do not post often. But I took your advice Dave and used American motorcycle tire for a cobra and an American elite. Also I used OSIXITY for the pads. Both vendors have been great. Maybe someday I'll run into you, I live in Chelmsford.

I had a similar "buzz" when I fitted new sintered pads , I replaced them with kevlar and the noise has gone.

Also, don't rule out non brake parts. I had the same thing and it was something unrelated vibrating, tho this was long ago and i don't remember what it was. Check the radiator shroud tho. Not sure if thats what it was but i do remember the screen was vibrating against the shroud frame. Had to put silicone between the frame and screen around the edges. Point it, the brakes can cause a resonance at a certain frequency that might cause other things to buzz. Also, consider removing the pads and putting some brake grease on the backs of them to cushion vibrations.

Mine did the same after every pad change. Its pretty normal and wears off after a while. Its something to do with the holes in the rotor passing the pads. It never made any difference to braking.

When you change the pads on ANY disc brake APPLICATION,whether it be motorcycle, car, truck, trailer, whatever, and perform that little tip I suggested, you'll discover it to be quite beneficial.
